Privacy Policy

Effective Date : 09/04/2026

This Privacy Policy describes how trendywestend.com and its associated apps — The Archive and The Splitter — collect, use, and protect your information. It applies to the website itself and to both apps. Where a section applies to only one product, it’s labeled accordingly.

If you have questions about this policy, contact us through our contact page.

1. Information We Collect

The Website

Contact Form

When you contact us through the site, we collect your email address and the content of your message. We retain this information to respond to your inquiry and provide ongoing support if needed, for as long as necessary to resolve the matter or until you ask us to delete it. We do not use contact form submissions for marketing purposes and do not share them with third parties.

Analytics & Cookies

This site uses Jetpack Stats to see aggregate traffic information, such as which pages are viewed and how visitors arrive at the site. Jetpack Stats does not provide us with any personal information about individual visitors. This site is hosted on WordPress.com infrastructure; WordPress.com’s own data collection practices (such as any cookies or logging performed at the hosting/platform level) are governed by Automattic’s Privacy Policy, not this one.

The Archive

Account Connections (Discogs & MusicBrainz)

The Archive allows you to connect your Discogs and/or MusicBrainz account to look up and import release information into your personal catalog.

  • Login credentials: You authenticate directly with Discogs and MusicBrainz through their official login screens. We never see or store your username or password for these services.
  • Authentication tokens: Once you authorize the connection, the tokens issued by Discogs/MusicBrainz are stored only in your device’s Keychain. They are not synced to iCloud and are not stored on our servers.
  • Request handling: To perform searches, barcode lookups, and collection imports, your device sends your Discogs access token — along with search terms, scanned barcodes, and your Discogs username and collection folder IDs — through our backend request proxy (hosted on AWS), which signs and forwards the request to Discogs and returns the result to your device. This data is used only to fulfill your request in the moment; it is not written to any database, file, or persistent log by our backend. MusicBrainz lookups and profile requests are made directly from your device to MusicBrainz’s servers and do not pass through our backend.

Your Collection Data

The Archive stores the music collection data you create — release information, physical media details, condition notes, rankings, purchase history, and any photos you add — on your device using Apple’s SwiftData framework. This data is yours; we do not have access to it, even if you choose to back it up via your own iCloud account (governed by Apple’s privacy policy, not ours).

Purchases

Free/Pro tier purchases within The Archive are processed entirely through Apple’s StoreKit. We do not collect or store your payment information; Apple handles all billing and provides us only with entitlement status (i.e., whether you’ve purchased Pro).

The Splitter

No Data Collection

The Splitter processes your media files (audio Blu-ray, DVD, and CD rips) entirely on your device. It does not require an account, does not transmit your files anywhere, and does not collect personal information. The only network activity is a direct, on-device lookup to MusicBrainz and/or Discogs to retrieve track titles and metadata for tagging your files — the same kind of request any music-tagging tool makes, and it does not pass through our servers.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information described above solely to:

  • Respond to inquiries submitted through the contact form
  • Enable the account-connection features you request within The Archive
  • Operate and improve the website and apps
  • Comply with legal obligations, if any arise

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising or marketing purposes.

3. Data Retention

  • Contact form submissions: retained until your inquiry is resolved or you request deletion.
  • Discogs/MusicBrainz tokens and collection data: remain on your device (Keychain and SwiftData, respectively) until you disconnect the account, delete the app, or clear the data yourself. We do not retain copies.
  • Data in transit through our backend: not retained; used only to process the immediate request.

4. Third-Party Services

  • Discogs and MusicBrainz: used for release lookups and metadata. Your use of these integrations is also subject to Discogs’ privacy policy and MusicBrainz’s privacy policy.
  • Apple (App Store / StoreKit): handles purchases and, if you enable it, iCloud backup of app data. Subject to Apple’s privacy policy.
  • AWS (Amazon Web Services): our backend infrastructure provider. AWS processes certain requests in transit (see Section 1) but does not retain personal data on our behalf.

5. Your Choices

  • You can disconnect your Discogs or MusicBrainz account within The Archive at any time, which removes the stored tokens from your device’s Keychain.
  • You can delete your collection data at any time by deleting it within the app or uninstalling The Archive.
  • You can request deletion of any contact form correspondence by emailing us through our contact form here.

6. Children’s Privacy

Our website and apps are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
