The Splitter
Build Your own Media Server
Rip CDs, Blu-ray Audio Discs, Edit Metadata, and Encode High Quality Audio with No Compromises
Your Music, No Streaming Required
The Splitter gives you the tools to turn your CD and Blu-ray Audio collection into your own personal music library, no streaming service required. The application uses battle tested and proven tools to convert your media into standard FLAC audio files with no compression or loss in quality.
Blu-ray Audio
Blu-ray Audio discs represent the pinnacle of audio quality that comes at the cost of convenience. Listening requires a full AV system with a Blu-ray player and a TV to navigate. Extracting the stereo audio tracks allows the same audio experience at full bit rates without all the extra gear. Enjoy the hi-res files on your portable device or serve them to your dedicated audiophile streamer over your local network.
- Extract Your Audio – While the application doesn’t support built-in extraction of audio tracks, you will need to use a tool like MakeMKV to extract the hi-res stereo audio tracks from the Blu-ray source.
- Load the MKV File – The Splitter will process the stereo audio .mkv files, detect the chapters, and create individual FLAC files that you can drop right into your music server.
- MusicBrainz and Discogs – Use the built-in lookup to find the artist and title on-line and we’ll assign artwork, song titles, and other metadata.
- Encode Without Loosing Quality – Click the encode button and the audio is encoded to individual FLAC files with no loss in bit depth or sample rate, encodes are bit accurate to the source material.
CD Ripping With Confidence
If you have an extensive CD collection and want to ditch the player and use your high quality streamer, your best option is to rip the CDs into a high quality lossless format. You get all the benefits of the original source with the convenience of your audiophile streaming hardware.
- Automatically Detects Discs – Insert a CD and the app searches MusicBrainz and Discogs for potential matches, then sets the artist, title, and song titles.
- Accurate Rips – We offer two layers of data integrity to ensure bit-accurate rips. The first option reads each track twice and compares the resulting files and flags any discrepancies before encoding. The second option uses CD Paranoia, an open source library that provides data verification and compensates for sub-par media to ensure bit-accurate reads from any of your CDs.
Metadata Data Done Right
Metadata allows your devices or media server to keep your music properly organized. We help you get it right from the start and give you the tools you need to keep things organized.
- MusicBrainz or Discogs Lookups – Automatically fetch artist, title, song titles, and album artwork.
- Optimized Album Artwork – All album artwork can be optimized to work with your network streamer’s image size limits.
- Full Metadata Editor – Edit metadata on any existing files to keep your library clean.
